We’ve all seen the proliferation of attacks and data breaches in the media and in our own lives, but how do security practitioners manage risk while still enabling the business to pursue its strategic objectives? With product teams developing new applications and deploying new endpoints faster than ever to remain competitive, we’ll talk to security leaders to understand how they are harnessing this energy without losing control.

While APIs have been around for at least 20 years, Akamai has seen a dramatic growth in the amount of API traffic recently. Our research shows that 25% of all web transactions on the web today are API calls, and we expect this to continue to increase rapidly. Part of this growth can be attributed to the proliferation of mobile applications, and the need to integrate applications and devices with remote systems. In this session, we’ll discuss API attack trends, and what we believe are the main shortcomings of existing web security solutions when it comes to protecting web and mobile APIs.
Sean Pohl, Security Strategist, AT&T
