At Edge Summit, Internet pioneer and Akamai CEO Dr. Tom Leighton will share Akamai’s vision for the future and how the Edge will make it possible. You’ll hear about the megatrends that are shaping the move to the Edge in real time: The explosive growth of users, who expect apps that perform in milliseconds and digital experiences that are instantaneous. Blockchain, poised to revolutionize everything from finance to logistics. The Internet of Things, converging the physical and digital into a world where almost everything is a potential source of data and insight. Highly sophisticated cyberthreats, poised to exploit any weakness in the billions of endpoints at the Edge and conscript them to nefarious purposes — unless they can be secured. And 5G technology, connecting more people and devices to the Internet with greater bandwidth and lower latency than ever before, making the Edge increasingly vital to your digital success. In this session, you’ll also hear from Akamai leaders and Richard Olivecrona, Director of New Ventures at SKF, who will share how the Akamai Intelligent Edge Platform is profoundly transforming businesses.
Cybersecurity is no longer about protecting secrets. It’s about our way of life: from webcams to medical devices, to the manipulation of political campaigns and global markets. Are you thinking about what’s next? This talk will inspire the audience to take action about security challenges. We will shed light on emerging security threats, learn practical ways to build resilience — and see what we can learn from friendly hackers! We will discuss the future workforce and business challenges in this space and how to foster more diversity in cybersecurity, and forge a path to a more secure future, together.
Finally, we’ll take a look at the future of cybersecurity and learn why resilience will be defined not just by our efforts to balance technology’s benefits against the risks it brings with it, but also by how we evolve our paradigms about security, privacy, and digital access.
Today’s security professionals are busier than ever. As companies seek to engage customers through digital channels, accelerate innovation, and transform their own internal operations, their role is expanding to take on brand protection, third-party risk management, and privacy — piled on top of their existing cybersecurity responsibilities and challenges. And today’s challenges are mounting. Security pros must continue to contend with an ever-mutating threat landscape, expansion of cloud services, rapid development of new applications and products, increasing IT complexity, compliance with global privacy laws, etc. To deal with these challenges, security pros will need to transform both their security strategy and their architecture.
Digital transformation requires a strong security posture, with a focus on enabling innovation. One survey of C-level executives revealed that 64% recognize that cybersecurity is a “significant” driver of their success, yet 71% said they worry about security controls hindering innovation. In this interactive fireside chat, Enza Iannopollo, Senior Analyst for Forrester Research, and Keren Elazari, renowned hacker and cybersecurity expert, will discuss how creating a strong cybersecurity stance can enable digital businesses to confidently capture new growth opportunities while mitigating risks to their organizations.
Pearson holds the crown as the world’s largest learning company. But with a 175-year history in everything from construction to media and publishing, it faced real challenges in transforming its print-led business to fully embrace the potential of digital education.
In this session, COO and CTO Albert Hitchcock will take us through his journey to simplify Pearson’s underlying legacy technology as well as all of its complex operational processes. Albert will also explain how Pearson took advantage of Akamai’s Intelligent Edge Platform to assist the company’s initiative to deliver exceptional digital experiences for its customers.
Moving applications to the cloud is a journey, not a day trip. You’ll learn how leading organizations rely on the Edge to gain much-needed agility, plus high availability and failover, with a consistent set of security controls as they evolve their architectures to include hybrid and multi-cloud strategies.
Businesses the world over are more aware of security threats, and are investing heavily to secure their sites and apps, making it increasingly difficult for attackers to evade detection and compromise defenses. This has led to a new type of exploit that compromises JavaScript components in a web page and sends sensitive personally identifiable information to malicious domains. Learn how Akamai is developing a solution to detect and mitigate these attacks with our security and product experts.
Consumer expectations continue to rise, while at the same time your apps are getting heavier and more complex. You’re pressured to move faster and scale to support more capacity than ever before. Learn how Akamai customers have stayed ahead of user expectations and gained a competitive edge in their industry by monitoring real user performance, stress testing their applications for peak demand, automating performance optimizations, and streamlining their workflows and release processes with automation and DevOps tools. If you’re not getting faster, you’re getting slower.
As workloads move to the cloud and more users work outside enterprises’ four walls, security and access controls need to follow. This transformation impacts not only an organization’s security stack, but also their network architecture.
It’s time to move from a centralized, default allow, network-centric model of security and access to a distributed, default deny, application-centric security and access model that reduces risk while improving end-user experiences.
Digital transformation is changing the way businesses compete, and it redefines customer engagement and expectations for acquisition and retention. As integrated digital touchpoints become fully mainstream, new engagement models enabled by the Internet of Things and the growing interest in cryptocurrency require more fluid communications, faster computations, and an increasingly intelligent security approach to power the next wave of innovation and customer value.
In this session, Akamai product leaders will showcase how Akamai is investing in intelligent edge security, perimeterless architecture, broadcast-quality video content, high-speed compute for applications and the Internet of Things, high-throughput cryptocurrency and digital ledgers, and integrated real-time communication and analytics.
