Deliver your Sites Securely in the Cloud Via HTTPS

July 9, 2015 – HTTPS Webinar

Are your sites and web-based applications HTTPS-ready? Public awareness of data and identity theft is increasing. News stories about corporate and government sites who have leaked Personally Identifiable Information (PII) have become commonplace. Bloggers and watchdog groups are frequently “shaming” sites for using unsecured protocols to transmit data, leaving communications susceptible to eavesdropping, and risking exposure of confidential information.

Online tools that measure the quality of site security are being used to identify sites that use poor encryption. And even sites that don't necessarily have PII but use HTTP are susceptible to phishing attacks and other forms of fraud. HTTPS provides nonrepudiation and confirms citizens are going to actual federal websites and not a malicious or fraudulent actor.

The United States Chief Information Officer has drafted a memo mandating the delivery of all Federal web sites via HTTPS-only to allay these privacy and security concerns, but building and maintaining a network that provides secure content delivery via TLS that can scale to peak demands on a global scale is not cost effective for the individual agency. Akamai’s Secure Delivery Platform is uniquely positioned to help all Federal sites in all three branches scale to meet this challenge and keep citizens protected with HTTPS delivery.
